Sushi Hayashi Restaurant in Oklahoma City

The sushi was delicious. The atmosphere, the vibe and the help were weird. I felt uncomfortable like I was being watched while I ate. The lady at the front counter has an assertive personally that is off putting. As soon as I and other people walked in the foor, she asked if it was to go, like she was asking us to leave. I hope they read this and get a clue because the food was great. I had to ask for the other menu besides the sushi menu. Strange girl standing in the middle of the room watching customers, lol. , when I paid at the front counter the woman never asked me what I thought of the food or my dining experience she also never said Thank you in fact she didn't say one word to me cuz she was on the phone with somebody speaking another language.

We love this sushi place. We've eaten sushi all over OKC and this is top 3. Mom & Pops type atmosphere with the owners always there. I have a large family and feel right at home. California Roll, Spicy Cowboy & Sweet & Spicy Crab rolls are amazing!

Impolite and pushy. Non assistive with menu explanations. Poor lunch choices. Pricey and no happy hour. The lunch taste and prep was good if you can get past all the other things.

Hayashi has always been wonderful. The sushi and sashimi always perfect with consistently great service. Arguably the best sushi in OKC.

I must say first that the sushi is the best in south OKC. The sushi chef is also very nice. He also prepares a house made soy sauce which is fantastic.BUT the lady who runs the retaurant is very difficult to deal with. If I can get in and out without dealing with her that would raise this review to 6 stars. Some folks should just not work customer service positions. She is definitely holding back a great restaurant. :(

I went a few times just to give it a try because the food wasn't bad at all. But the woman or owner is incredibly rude and persistent and told us that we had to give her tip, she said we didn't have a choice. I'm fine with giving a tip knowing I'm going out. She put more than a 20% gratuity on our check and said we had to pay that. Never going to this place again she is incompetent and rude.

Best Sushi in town, the owners are really nice and great personal service. I would put them up against any sushi place in Chicago, let alone OKC

Fantastic sushi. I was very impressed. Service was fine (seemed like they were in a hurry for everything, even though it wasn't busy), but the sushi was so very worth it. Decor was pleasant, they had a football game up on the TV in an alcove. We could have sat at the sushi bar, but chose not to. I know I sound like a commercial, but really worth it. Prices on par with other sushi places.

The rolls are fairly priced for the size of the rolls and the taste is better than almost every place I’ve visited in the metro so far. They have good seating and seats at the sushi bar as well. If you eat sushi here you will not be disappointed!

Best sushi in Oklahoma City! I love the Kim family. The spicy cowboy is my favorite.

A group of us went here for book club. It was my first time here and wasn’t disappointed. The quality of sushi is good and the side dishes has a homemade touch to them.

I've been eating at Sushi Hayashi since they opened, both dine in and take out. The rolls are well made and taste great. I've always have great service, the owner knows me by name and is friendly. I love the sashimi, Beverly Roll, Tootsie Roll and the Spicy Cowboy Roll. Their teriyaki chicken is another great option.

The lady working the front desk /waitress /co-owner I believe is absolutely horrible. Terribly rude to customers ABSOLUTELY no customer service..my family will not spend money anywhere that devalues their customers the way she does .. I was in shock as the man behind the counter seemed to be a nice guy .. however we will never go back...

Ok so I have been coming to this place for many years now. The sushi here is very good. I usually do dine in or to go with my sister. I've never had any personal issues with the front lady, I thought she was ok ( though her husband is very nice). But my sister (who is younger than me) had been telling me that the lady had started getting pushy with tips whenever my sister ate with her friends. The last time we went, we got a to go order and the total was around $15 and so I gave my sister a $20 bill. She came back into the car and told me that the lady didn't give us back our change. She just took the $20 bill and put it in the register and said thanks and basically bye. I was in disbelief but we are not confrontational people so we left. Never going back.

The food is great. I mean extremely delicious. But the cashier is always asking "no tip?" If you leave the tip at the table and not up front. Every time. Other than that it's a great place to eat

I hate to do this but please beware of this establishment. Sushi is well made but the lady working the front desk (co-owner?) is absolutely horrible. Terribly rude to customers. I will not spend money at an establishment that devalues their customers this way. You have been warned!!

It's absolutely the best Sushi in the OKC metro. There is no comparison. I have no idea how they have such fresh fish in Oklahoma. It's worth every penny. It's the best. Side note: There are reviews that talk about the woman up front. She doesn't do those things anymore and acts very nice every time we come in. Give them another try.

This place was the worst ever for sushi & Service. Our three roles we ordered and two drinks and a kids meal was $90. All the roles had potted crab meat with mayonnaise and they all tasted the same. The service was horrific. Don't waste your time here drive a mile down the street to volcanoes and get real Sushi Rolls and your money's worth with excellent service.

This lady has the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. The food might be good but no food is worth putting up with the rudeness from this lady. TERRIBLE service!!!!!

The rainbow roll is so good, I went for my mom’s birthday and I wish I could go every day. My only complaint is that it’s a bit expensive but I understand you pay for what you get and what you get is amazing sushi.

My Granddaughter and I have been going to Hayashi for a very long time. We are treated with respect and the sushi is the best we have ever had and we have tried many places and this one is the best. I get the Pennsylvania Roll every time and when I walk in the door they acknowledge me right away and know what I want. You people that complain don't know a good thing when you have it ... I would be devastated if Hayashi ever closed their doors. The lady who runs it is always respectful and gives us prompt service.I LOVE HAYASHI and it will continue to be our favorite sushi bar ever !

While others have expressed their concerns with the owners, I know them very well as I have been a customer of theirs for 10 years. They might not have the over-the-top customer service some are used to expecting, they do try and their high level of expectation in food quality outweighs those flaws. I love their sushi and have never received a low quality product. They have always exceeded my expectation and I have not found another place with the same quality. I will always come see them at any opportunity I get.

Great food, BUT, the lady who served us was very rude, literally had us leave the place and complained after all because we didn’t give her a good tip because of her bad service. The worst restaurant experience in my life.

I wish I knew around what time that incredibly rude lady, at the front of the restaurant, is not working. . The sushi is delicious, the lady at the front is dishonest. She will overcharge you. Has happened more than once. The sushi is delicious, that's the only reason I go back, just make sure you check your receipt before paying.

These are the best tasting sushi rolls I’ve found in the metro area! Large portions, too.

As usual, the sushi is wonderful and so well made, and the lady working the front is rude af. Pretty sure she overcharges too, so doublecheck your ticket. If they got rid of her this place would be a lot better. Not a good vibe in there at all.

Me and 2 friends spent $110 on sushi here and it was excellent. You’re seeing 8 rolls and 6 pieces of salmon nigiri that’s been blow torched (ask for it like that, it’s great). All the rolls had their own distinct taste and they were all truly unique. I recommend EVERYTHING here, you cannot go wrong. Keep in mind, this place only does SUSHI and nothing else in regards to entrees. The fish here is SUPER fresh, not sure how they are able to get that quality of fish in Oklahoma, but I love it. Check this place out, you’ll love it.

Excellent sushi! Very fresh. I see that some people complain about service, but they are very nice. Perhaps some people just done understand different cultures. Certainly the food is more than a 5 star

My husband & I have been coming here since 2007. The sushi is amazing! I love sushi & have tried so many places here. This place has the best sushi in the state, hands down. The lady, I assume she is the owner, is not the sweetest but the great sushi and great prices are worth it! ♡ Hayashi for life. Lol

I've eaten here as take out many times. I decided to dine in and at the end, I noticed my total was abnormally high. At the bottom of the ticket there was a stamp that said something like 15% gratuity (the "15%" was written in by hand). I don't mind leaving tips but apparently the woman in the front thinks I don't know how to do BASIC math or something. The gratuity she charged was actually 22% to my total, RIDICULOUS. Looking at the reviews, I see that this is not an uncommon problem. Beware, she is a cheater.

Great sushi!

Went in to order to go, no prices on the menu and no one was in the restaurant so I assumed my order would be made immediately but was told it would 35 to 40 minutes and I would have to come back. She didn’t bother to tell me this until after I’d already paid. $24 for two sushi rolls is a little ridiculous. They should give you prices and more info before you order.

We ordered Nigiri and sushi rolls, the fried sushi rolls came out before nigiri and they delivered the next persons sushi rolls before our nigiri. Not to mention the price was not worth it. I can only imagine what our bill would have been with the nigiri added that we didn’t get. In my opinion if Nigiri is fresh fish it should be brought out first. Worst experience ever.

Sushi is always fresh and prompt service. The atmosphere is homey and quaint. Will be back.

Me, my mom, my grandma, and my sister have been coming here for years and we love it. The food is great and one of my favorite sushi places. I definitely recommend this place!
